Leadership according to Beyoncé (+ others)

I don’t normally watch TV, but when I do I’m fired up when I see leadership at its finest.
First with Beyoncé’s documentary Homecoming on Netflix, highlighting her commitment to excellence and recognizing her great responsibility as the first black woman to headline Coachella. This documentary, interwoven with black historical context, was extra special because my daughter and I were at Coachella to see Beyoncé make history.
Leadership lessons:

  • You can’t be what you can’t see.
  • I feel compelled to compel.

Brene Brown with her Netflix special A Call To Courage is also a must see – and I was in the audience when she filmed at UCLA!
Leadership Lessons:

  • Choose courage over comfort.
  • If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion I am not interested in your feedback. Period.

And finally, HBO’s Game of Thrones, when Arya heroically leaped and killed the Night King, I was surprised and thrilled at the same time.
Leadership Lessons:

  • Hesitation killed the warrior. (Ayra didn’t hesitate!)
  • We can’t defeat death. How will you face it in the end?
